The first picture with Sam wearing a vest means she is a road guard. For all you non-military types, this is what a road guard does. As a marching or jogging unit approaches an intersection, the road guards double time to the crossing roadway and stop all traffic until the unit is completely through the intersection. When the unit is through the intersection they then double time back to their original position within the ranks. If there are a lot of intersections you can be a bit tired at the end of a long trek.
In picture #2 Sam looks a bit wet and muddy standing in the rear. We're assuming this shot was taken after the obstacle or confidence course. Right after this picture was taken and her flight had finished the course they received perk. One of their Cadre (boss person) tossed them a cell phone and said, "you each have one minute". Fortunately Jeff was at home for the quick call, all is well, attitude great and very tired at the end of the day.
